Day Twenty-Three

Today I finally made up for one of my missing days.  Thursdays have become my Yoga Class day.  Ninety minutes of power yoga.  Where I made up for one of the missing days was in that I biked downtown and back.  Made it almost all the way back before the downpour that drenched me.

So I am now only down two activities.

Day Twenty

Bike ride downtown.  This time 15 minutes.  I seem to shave a minute off each time I go.  I still have 3 activities to make up though with a week full of renovations I'm not sure how I am going to fit them in.

Day Eighteen

I decided to Walk to my drinking this time instead of walking back in the morning to find my car.  I walked to campus to pick up my friends, then up to the pre drink then back to the Grad Club for the dance.  All in all over an hour of walking.

Day Sixteen

I took my first actual Yoga class today.  It was really good, I enjoyed and learned a few things.  I now have some things to work on in addition the the routine I do at home.  It was over an hour but I will still count it as only one activity, even though I am still behind by three.  I hope to make at least one of those up over the weekend.

Day Thirteen

Okay so I had a bad weekend.  I mean it was a great weekend full of friends, some drink, and plenty of sushi.  Activity-wise though, I did nothing.  That puts me behind by three. 

Tonight I did my Yoga routine.  Did some Push Ups as well but not enough to redeem my 3 missing days.

Day Nine

Did my Yoga routine today.  I am finding the poses easier as I get more familliar with them.  It will be time to add more poses to my routine and I will likely hit a class with friends soon.  I do not think I am ready for a Hot Yoga class just yet.

I still have that missed day to make up for which I will likely do on the weekend.  I will likely be going for a hike on sunday with friends so I will try to add something in that day..

Day Six

Almost forgot to post today.  Went for my usual run.  Worked on my breathing and it went much better.

Tomorrow I need to do Yoga.  Might do another run as well.

Day Five

So I said from the beginning there might be days where walking downtown to get my car was going to be my activity and today is that day.

My car was at a friend's place on Queen's campus.  A 40 minute walk at a decent pace followed by a bit of walking around downtown.

Day Three

Just did the 30 minute yoga DVD that came with my mat.  Lots of good basics there.  I will need a few more goes at it before I can follow along without having to watch as much as I did tonight.  The stretching feels awesome and I do see how it does work the muscles as well just by holding up the weight of your own arms and legs.  Feels great.

PS: I only got attacked with dog kisses once.  Much better than when I attempt push ups and have a dog on the floor under me before I'm done.

Day One

Day one consisted of my usual run which I managed to do without any pain.  It was was quite a hot day so I couldn't have managed a second lap.  I decided that a ten minute run was a bit of a ripoff as far as the challenge goes so I went downtown with Jessie and met up with a friend and took a decent walk.

On to day two tomorrow...  I have not decided what my activity will be.

First Bike Ride

Rode downtown this morning, it took about 17 minutes which is much quicker than I would have thought.  The stats according to my trip computer are: 11.6 kilometers in 43 minutes.  That does not sound good but the computer counted the time I was walking my bike up Princess Street with a friend.  I would suspect based on the 17 minutes down it would be safe to say 30 to 34 minutes.

Finally...

I got out for a run after work today.  It was not a long run but it was a start.  My lungs had a rough go of it.  My legs were sore.  I have no clue how long I was running but I know it was only about 10 minutes or so.  I am going to have to work on my breathing and pacing.  I do want to have a bit more stamina before June 1st.

Called on account of rain

Big plans to ride my bike downtown yesterday.  Plans to run tonight after work.  Both to help me get into gear for my upcoming self challenge.  Both called on account of rain.  I am a little less worried about weather issues in June but I really wanted to get things going before the challenge begins.  Thankfully I still have 8 days.  Surely I will be able to get out there some evening this week.

Coming soon...

So here is the plan (stolen from a friend): Starting June 1st I am going to go running, biking, climbing or do yoga  every day for 30 days.  I will document my activities in this blog but I warn you it will be short and dry, I do not anticipate any entries more in depth than a few lines confirming I got my ass out of my apartment and did something.

One final thing, I reserve the right to substitute activities from time to time.  Frankly, some days walking downtown to get my car after a drinking binge is going to be my activity.  I am at peace with this.

PS: I am told a good romp in the sheets could possibly be a substitute activity but I'll keep that as extra curriculars for bonus points.
